There is no single global standard for prayer times, and mosques rarely document how they calculate them. Our engine uses a multi-stage optimizer to fit city-specific parameters against real-world reference schedules from mosques and Islamic authorities worldwide, systematically finding parameters that reproduce the published times rather than guessing.

Quran & Hadith Search API

The Search API lets your users search Islamic texts by meaning, not just exact keywords. Search for “Ayat al-Kursi” and it instantly returns Quran 2:255. Search “patience in hardship” and find every relevant verse, even when those exact words never appear in the text. It works across the Quran, all six authentic Hadith collections, and Athkar, in over 130 translations.

Quran: all 114 surahs, with translations in multiple languages.
Hadith: the six authentic (Sahih Sittah) collections: Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Sunan Abu Dawud, Jami‘ al-Tirmidhi, Sunan al-Nasa’i, and Sunan Ibn Majah.

Prayer Times API Coming Soon

The Prayer Times API will provide accurate prayer times for any location worldwide. Unlike calculators that just apply raw astronomical formulas, Kalimat's engine is calibrated against reference schedules published by mosques and Islamic authorities in each country. The times your users see match what their community actually prays, not just what the math produces.

There is no single global standard for prayer times. Each country, organization, and sometimes individual mosque may use its own combination of calculation angles, rounding rules, and seasonal adjustments, and rarely documents how. A formula-only engine often produces times that don't match local practice. Kalimat's optimizer fits city-specific parameters against reference data from local authorities, so the output reflects what communities actually use.

Yes. At latitudes above roughly 48°N (or 48°S), standard Fajr and Isha angle calculations can fail during summer months when the sun never dips far enough below the horizon. The Prayer Times API automatically detects these windows and applies the approximation method used by local communities, rather than returning an error or an obviously wrong time.
